Under the patronage of the General Secretariat of the Holy Hussain Shrine, the College of Medicine at Warith Al-Anbiyaa University held a scientific seminar titled “The Relationship Between Religion and Medicine.” The seminar was delivered by Dr Sadiq Al-Maruj and attended by a large audience of the College’s academic staff and students, as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen scientific and ethical awareness among its students.
The seminar addressed several key themes, focusing on connecting Qur’anic values to the educational journey of medical students and highlighting the impact of religious teachings on shaping the physician’s humanitarian and ethical character. It also explored the complementarity between religious principles and contemporary scientific developments in the medical field. These discussions support the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting value-based, high-quality education, and Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by preparing medical professionals with strong scientific competence and responsible professional conduct.
The session also featured active student engagement, with questions collected and answered during the seminar. Additionally, selected narrations from the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) related to medicine were distributed, reinforcing the ethical and humanistic dimensions of medical practice.
