Warith Al-Anbiyaa University Celebrates the Receipt of a Handwritten Qur’an Manuscript Authored by Its Students and Faculty





University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa celebrated the receipt of a handwritten copy of the Holy Qur’an, to which its students, faculty members, and staff contributed. The official ceremony was held at the University’s Central Library and was attended by the University President, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayyawi, along with several college deans.
The manuscript was received from the Imam Hussein Shrine, represented by its Manuscripts Centre. This work represents the outcome of the “Words of Light” project, which was launched more than a year ago. University members participated by writing verses of the Holy Qur’an in their own handwriting, in an academic and cultural initiative that reflected devotion to the Qur’an and highlighted the preservation of calligraphic arts and Islamic heritage.
This project reflects the University’s role in supporting cultural and intellectual initiatives. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting cultural and intellectual learning, Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through the preservation of cultural heritage, and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cooperation with religious and cultural institutions.

University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa welcomed the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, during an official visit in which he met with graduates of the College of Medicine.
His Eminence was received by the University President, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayyawi, together with members of the College’s academic staff. The meeting underscored the vital role the University plays in preparing medically qualified professionals who are grounded in both scientific excellence and ethical integrity.
In his address to the students, His Eminence emphasised the importance of academic diligence and adherence to humanitarian and ethical values in medical practice. Acting Minister of Higher Education Chairs Senior Leadership Meeting and Emphasises Strengthening the Integrity of the Educational Process

The Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Hêlû Al-Askari, chaired a meeting of the Ministry’s senior leadership, emphasising the importance of strengthening institutional performance and enhancing integration in a manner that serves the quality of the educational process and the effectiveness of academic and scientific services provided to society.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr Al-Askari expressed his appreciation for being entrusted with the responsibility of administering the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, alongside his duties at the Ministry of Environment, in accordance with a Diwani Order issued by the Office of the Prime Minister.
The Acting Minister listened to the interventions of senior officials at the Ministry’s headquarters, stressing the need to enhance institutional effectiveness in light of ongoing digital transformation, strengthen adherence to quality assurance and academic accreditation indicators, support productive scientific research, and develop knowledge growth frameworks. The activities of the Second Investment and Entrepreneurship Exhibition were launched at Warith Al-Anbiyaa University, in cooperation with the University of Karbala, Al-Zahraa University for Women, and Al-Sibtain University. The exhibition witnessed wide participation from students and entrepreneurs, alongside a number of innovative entrepreneurial projects.
The exhibition aims to provide a practical platform for showcasing students’ creative ideas and linking them with opportunities for investment and development, thereby contributing to transforming student initiatives into projects capable of implementation and growth in the labour market, and enhancing students’ readiness to integrate into the economic environment.
The President of Warith Al-Anbiyaa University, Professor Dr Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayyawi, affirmed that the exhibition forms part of the University’s vision to promote a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students. As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen academic partnerships and advance scientific research, Warith Al-Anbiyaa University has signed a joint scientific cooperation memorandum with Al-Alamein Institute for Postgraduate Studies. The memorandum aims to broaden the scope of scientific and academic collaboration in a manner that contributes to enhancing the educational process and achieving the goals of sustainable development.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of Warith Al-Anbiyaa University by the University President, Professor Dr Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayyawi, while Al-Alamein Institute for Postgraduate Studies was represented by its Dean, Professor Dr Zaid Adnan Al-Akeeli. The signing ceremony took place in the courtyard of Al-Alamein Library.

In the presence of Mr. Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayji, Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (peace be upon him) celebrated its national and international achievements for 2025, highlighting its continued academic and institutional excellence.
The university ranked first in the Athar Award for Sustainable Universities among 59 Iraqi universities, obtained Iraqi Institutional Accreditation, and achieved first place among private universities in Iraq in the Times Arab Universities Rankings 2026, along with second place in the Iraqi University Rankings at the private level, reflecting its commitment to SDG 4 (Quality Education).
It also entered the QS Sustainability Rankings for the first time, ranking third among Iraqi universities, and secured second place in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025 among private universities, underscoring its focus on sustainability, innovation, and partnerships in line with SDG 9 and SDG 17.

Council of Opinion: Cabinet Decision Does Not Affect University Service Allowances

The Council of Opinion at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reassured all employees of its institutions that the Cabinet decision does not, in any way, affect university service allowances granted to full-time university service staff in accordance with the law.
The Council clarified that the decision does not impact the allowances granted under the provisions of Paragraphs (First) and (Second) of Article (14) of the University Service Law for both technical and administrative employees. It further emphasized that the content of Paragraph (7) of Cabinet Decision No. (40) of 2026 is fully consistent with the legal texts stipulated in the University Service Law, which remains in force.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the entitlements of its employees, whether at the Ministry headquarters or across Iraqi universities, in accordance with applicable legal frameworks and approved legislation.

This initiative also reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening applied education and institutional partnerships with industry, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), by offering realistic training environments that enhance students’ skills and improve engineering education outcomes.
For its part, the plant’s management welcomed the visit and expressed its readiness to cooperate with the university in a manner consistent with the nature of the factory’s work, supporting students’ educational and practical pathways and contributing to local development in Karbala.
